Modesty be damned! This – my first of many TO Fringeventures – was hardly an arbitrary pick. Company name aside (The Dancing Cock Brothers? Uh, yah.), the program note spoke for itself:
“this is the Best Show that has ever happened.”
Direct quote.
The show: Sketch comedy with some really funny moments. Priding itself on being extremely crude, it gives you a pretty good run for your money. Realistically, I found it pretty tame but that’s only a sign that I have been ruined by modern media (because they ruin everything). It hits a firm Yellow on my full-proof Scale-O-Crassness, but there are some real gems, like an unexpected little number that I shall name “Bread Friends”, while actor Adam Kelly was a treat to watch throughout; great timing, great characters, and a shockingly broad range of really impressive accents. Overall, it felt a little over-rehearsed, but the real test for a comedy show is the funniness quota. And yes, I laughed. And I yelled things. Yelled things.
In a word: Cocktastic.
Fringe notes: Night time in TO = Mosquitoes. Seriously, they’re everywhere. Can Fringe get on that? Okthanks.
